چکیده

A formalism called partial equilibrium logic (PEL) has recently been proposed as a logical foundation for the well-founded semantics (WFS) of logic programs. In PEL one defines a class of minimal models, called partial equilibrium models, in a non-classical logic, HT . On logic programs partial equilibrium models coincide with Przymusinski’s partial stable (p-stable) models, so that PEL can be seen as a way to extend WFS and p-stable semantics to arbitrary propositional theories. We study several extensions of PEL with strong negation and compare these with previous systems extending WFS with explicit negation, notably WSFX [10] and p-stable models with “classical” negation [11].

Back and Forth Semantics for Normal, Disjunctive and Extended Logic programs

We deene a logical semantics called back-and-forth, applicable to normal and disjunctive datalog programs as well as to programs possessing a second, explicit or`strong' negation operator. We show that on normal programs it is equivalent to the well-founded semantics (WFS), and that on disjunctive programs it is equivalent to the P-stable semantics of Eiter, Leone and Saccc a, hence to Przymusi...

Non-monotonic Negation in Hybrid Probabilistic Logic Programs

In [23], a new Hybrid Probabilistic Logic Programs framework has been proposed, and a new semantics has been developed to enable encoding and reasoning about real-world applications. In this paper, the language of Hybrid Probabilistic Logic Programs framework of [23] is extended to allow non-monotonic negation, and two alternative semantics are defined: stable probabilistic model semantics and ...

Well Founded Semantics for Logic Program Updates

Over the last years various semantics have been proposed for dealing with updates of logic programs by (other) logic programs. Most of these various semantics extend the stable models semantics of normal, extended (with explicit negation) or generalized (with default negation in rule heads) logic programs. In this paper we propose a well founded semantics for logic programs updates. We motivate...

Supporting Open and Closed World Reasoning on the Web

In this paper general mechanisms and syntactic restrictions are explored in order to specify and merge rule bases in the Semantic Web. Rule bases are expressed by extended logic programs having two forms of negation, namely strong (or explicit) and weak (also known as default negation or negation-as-failure). The proposed mechanisms are defined by very simple modular program transformations, an...
